Apple Announces Apple Health Records to be Available for Veterans

Apple has announced a major benefits for United States veterans. After working with the US Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), the Cupertino tech giant has announced that Apple Health Records on iPhone will be available to veterans. This means that for the first time, veterans receiving care through the Veterans Health Administration can securely view their aggregated health records on their iPhone. They will be able to view them through the Apple Health app.

With Apple Health Records, veterans will be able to see medical information and history when they get medical help from the VA and other participating institutions. All of the information can be view in Apple Health and is organized into one view. Data that will be in Health Records includes:

  • Allergies
  • Conditions
  • Immunizations
  • Lab Results
  • Medications
  • Procedures
  • Vital Signs

All of this information will be accessible by veterans at any time on their iPhone. The records are encrypted and protected by the iPhone’s passcode, Touch ID, or Face ID

While an exact launch date was not mentioned, only “available soon”, it should be sometime this quarter. The feature will be available to all 9 million United States veterans.
