iCloud for Windows 10 Update Fixes Incompatibility Issues

Apple has released an update to the iCloud for Windows app.  The update, version 7.8.1 for those keeping score at home, fixes some incompatibility issues with the newest version of the Microsoft Operating System.

In October, Microsoft released version 1809 of Windows 10.  The release did not go smoothly on several fronts, including iCloud for Windows.  The issue was that some users could not update Shared Albums after upgraded to 1809.  Microsoft went as far as to block the app from being download by Windows users, stating they were working with Apple on a fix.  It appears that fix has now arrived.

Microsoft Cortana Update Brings A Refreshed UI and Music Integration

Microsoft Cortana, the Redmond, Washington company’s personal assistant, has received a significant update today.  Version 3.0 of the assistant brings a completely revamped user interface, music and podcast integration, and improved results when using voice interactions.

The user interface is now a much more modern and sleek design, eliminating the old blue dominant UI.  The app looks much lighter and brighter when you compare it to the old version.  It also has been significantly decluttered in the process.

Microsoft’s Acquisition of Dev Repository GitHub is Complete

After being approved by regulatory bodies here in the United States and in Europe, Microsoft’s acquisition of GitHub has now been completed.  The $7.5 billion purchase by the Redmond company happened earlier this year and the last major hurdle for the purchase was cleared last week.  That hurdle was approval by the European Union Anti-Trust Commission.

With the acquisition now complete, further integration of the GitHub staff and technology can happen at Microsoft.  That said, the company has made it clear that the dev repository will remain open with plans to open it up further and improve key elements of it.  GitHub currently has approximately 31 million developers using the solution.

The European Union Approves Microsoft’s Acquisition of GitHub

In what is one of the last major hurdles to be cleared, Microsoft has won approval from the European Union for their purchase of GitHub.  The European Union Commission on anti-trust gave an unconditional approval of the $7.5 billion acquisition, stating that Microsoft will still face significant competition in the space after the merger.

The acquisition of GitHub was announced earlier this year from the Redmond, Washington tech giant and at the time, indicated that GitHub would retain its developer first ethos.
