Part of the announcement is also a reimagined Apple TV app. The app, which will be available in May, brings more personalized discovery and suggestion of movies and television shows. Further, for the first time, the TV app will make its appearance on macOS. This updated app will be coming to iOS and macOS as part of an update in May.
Part of the subscription service will be bringing the likes of Showtime, Starz, HBO, Hulu into a single app and the ability to chose which services you subscribe to through the app. The idea is that you can ala carte the apps and services you want instead of having to buy big bundles from cable and satellite providers. Clearly Apple is aiming this at cord-cutters.
There is no word yet on what the subscription will cost but suggestions are it will be $9.99 per month with premium channels costing extra. How much is not clear.
