At the Apple Event today, the new iPhone Xr was announced as part of a trio of new iPhones. The 6.1″ LCD displayed iPhone is aimed to be the more budget friendly of the iPhones announced today which is done by using the LCD display rather than an OLED one like the iPhone Xs and Xs Max.
Powered by the Apple A12 Bionic SoC, the same SoC in the new iPhone Xs and Xs Max, the iPhone Xr will come with 64GB, 128GB, or 256GB of Storage. It will also be available in a broader range of colors: Black, White, Red, Yellow, Coral, and Blue.
The 6.1″ Liquid Retina display renders at 1792×828 to give you 326ppi. There is no Home button as all of this year’s iPhones now have swipe gesture for navigation. The Xr is IP67 rate for dust and water intrusion.
Camera wise, you have the exact same wide-angle camera that are in the iPhone Xs and Xs Max. That is, a 12MP wide-angle lens f/1.8 6 lens camera with OIS and the same front facing 7MP shooter. Both have the same advanced photo Portrait modes, Bokeh and post processing depth of field features.
- 64GB: $749
- 128GB: $799
- 256GB: $899
The iPhone Xr will be available for pre-order on October 19th. This settles the rumor on these devices being limited in supply from Apple’s supply chain. Looks like that rumor was indeed true.
