After being teased last month, Apple Pay has officially arrived in Austria. The largest bank in the country, Erste Bank und Sparkasse, as well as German bank N26 both support the payment service with customers now able to register supported credit and debit cards through Apple Wallet. Apple has also indicated Bank Austria, Boon, Edenred, Revolut and VIMPay will support Apple Pay soon.
The expansion of Apple Pay into Austria only further builds on what has been a fast beginning to 2019 for the service. In February, support for the service came to the Czech Republic and two major banks were added in France. This followed support finally arriving in Germany in December 2018.
Apple has indicated that Apple Pay is one of the key services for them in the future with CEO Tim Cook indicating that it will be available in over 40 countries and regions by the end of this year.
