Apple Release First Beta of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to Developers

Coming on the heels of announcing the dates of WWDC 2022, Apple has now released the first beta of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to developers. The builds, which are only available to registered developers in the Apple Developer Program, represent what is likely the final dot-release of iOS 15. iOS 16 expected to be announced at WWDC in June.

Both the iOS and iPadOS version of 15.5 carry the same build number of 19F5047e. In addition, Apple also released the first beta builds of WatchOS 8.6 (19T5547f), and tvOSĀ 15.5 (19L5547e). There are no release notes that have been provided by Apple for this new build and it is likely a maintenance and bug feature release. With iOS 15.4, Apple has released all of the announced features for this version of iOS so at this point, no new features are expected in the version 15 train.

Additionally, at the time of this article, Apple has not released these new beta builds to the Public Beta program participants. That likely will happen later today or tomorrow assuming that the private beta testers do not discover a major issue.

While non-developers are generally discouraged from testing beta builds, anyone can join the Apple Developer Program and gain access to these builds. The program is $99 per annum to join and you can get more details here. However, for those who are non-developers and still want to test the latest beta builds of iOS, iPadOS or macOS, you are encouraged to join the public beta program.
