Apple Release First Beta of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to Public Beta Testers

A day after releasing the builds to registered Apple developers, the Cupertino company has now released the first beta of iOS 15.5 and iPadOS 15.5 to registered Apple Beta Program members. The build is available to anyone who has registered in the program and has a device registered to receive beta software.

Both the iOS and iPadOS version of 15.5 carry the same build number of 19F5047e. In addition, Apple also released the first beta builds of WatchOS 8.6 (19T5547f), and tvOS 15.5 (19L5547e). There are no release notes that have been provided by Apple for this new build and it is likely a maintenance and bug feature release. With iOS 15.4, Apple has released all of the announced features for this version of iOS so at this point, no new features are expected in the version 15 train. However, earlier indicators from the developer community suggests that the Apple iTunes card in Apple Wallet will be renamed Apple Account Card along with underlying code that suggests developers will be allowed to leverage third-party payment systems. The later is in response to regulators pressure, particularly in Europe. Finally, there is also underlying code that point to a new service, Apple Classical. This is directly related to the company’s acquisition of Primephonic in August 2021, at which time Apple said it would offer a classical music service & app for customers.

As a general rule, users are not encouraged to try out beta versions of iOS or iPadOS on their production devices. However, for those who are non-developers and still want to test the latest beta builds of iOS, iPadOS or macOS, you are encouraged to join the public beta program
