Apple Releases HomePod Software 15.6

Today, Apple has released HomePod Software 15.6 to the public, bringing improved language support and other performance improvements to the Smart Speaker. The update is available now and can be installed on your original HomePod or HomePod mini by access the settings of your HomePod in the Home app on your iPhone or iPad. The release comes on the same day that Apple released new versions of iOS, iPadOS, macOS Monterey, and watchOS.

HomePod Software 15.6 brings some important language support to the device. Here are the full release notes from Apple:

Software version 15.6 adds Siri voice recognition support in Mandarin Chinese (China mainland, Taiwan), Cantonese (China mainland, Hong Kong), and Japanese (Japan). This update also includes performance and stability improvements.

In Apple’s normal way, they don’t state any specifics around the performance or stability improvements so it is unclear what the company addressed in this software update. Still, it is a good idea to update your devices to this newest build to assure that you have the latest-and-greatest on your HomePods.

While the original HomePod is no longer available, Apple has a wide range of colors available for the approachable HomePod mini. At $99, you can get the Smart Speaker in five different colors to match your decor. Plus, Apple is currently running a promotion where you can get six months of Apple Music free with a HomePod mini purchase.
