On Friday, Apple released a second Release Candidate build of iOS 15.6 and iPadOS 15.6. The release has been made available both to the Apple Developer community as well as the Apple Public Beta Program for testing on devices. The new build came just three days after the first Release Candidate build was made available by the company. While a second “RC” build is not unheard of from Apple, it is certainly an exception rather than a rule.
According to Apple, the release will have the following enhancements and fixes:
iOS 15.6 includes enhancements, bug fixes and security updates.
- TV app adds the option to restart a live sports game already in-progress and pause, rewind, or fast-forward
- Fixes an issue where Settings may continue to display that device storage is full even if it is available
- Fixes an issue that may cause braille devices to slow down or stop responding when navigating text in Mail
- Fixes an issue in Safari where a tab may revert back to a previous page
At this time, there are no noted differences in enhancements to iOS versus iPadOS with this release.
When it is released, 15.6 will represent one of the final releases in the iOS 15 train. As readers know, iOS 16 is already out in beta for both Apple Developers and the Apple Beta Program and has already reached its third beta release (for Developers). While additional minor updates could come to the iOS 15 train, don’t expect much as Apple’s full attention will likely be turning to iOS 16 and iOS 16.1 from here on out.
