Apple Shuttering Texture on May 28 After Apple News+ Launch

After the launch of Apple News+ this week, it comes as no surprise that Apple is shuttering Texture, its magazine subscription app. Apple acquired Texture last year and with News+, it has effectively baked the two products together. Today Apple announced via the Texture support page that on May 28, 2019, the service will be shutting down for good.

Texture is ending. Texture’s last day of service is May 28, 2019. But you can continue reading your favorite magazines, plus so much more, with Apple News+

For subscribers who were on Apple products like iPhone, iPad and now Mac, this really isn’t a world shifting announcement. The $9.99 per month of News+ was the same as the standalone magazine app. However, for users of the magazine app on Android, it is a big thing. The app will be gone for Android users and you will not be able to continue to use it or subscribe to the service. In other words, your choice of magazine subscription apps gets shorter on May 28, 2019.

At this time, Apple has made no announcements or commitments on if News+ will come to Android.
