One of the many handy features of the Apple Watch is notifications. But like any smart device, there are times when notifications are distracting. That includes the notification that you have notifications waiting!
On the Apple Watch, by default, when you have a notification, you will see a small red dot in the upper-center of the display. For most people this is no big deal and can be ignored. But for others, getting rid of this dot can cut down on distractions while you are working on other things. In this tutorial, I’ll show you how to quickly and easily disable this notification dot on your Apple Watch.
First, to make sure we are all on the same page, the notification dot I’m referring to is the small red dot at the top center of the screen on this screenshot of my Apple Watch.
To turn this off, like many things related to your Watch, you don’t actually do it on the watch itself but in the Watch app on your iPhone. Open up that app then make sure you are on the My Watch tab at the bottom of the screen. Now scroll down the list until you get to Notifications. Tap that and at the very top of the page, you will see an option to disable the notification of notifications.
Turning this toggle off will eliminate the red dot notification on your Apple Watch display.
A couple of key notes. First, you will still get notifications on your Watch. You just won’t have an indicator on your watch face that you have notifications waiting. You can still view them by swiping down on the display of your Apple Watch. Also, you will still get haptic feedback on notifications even if you have this notification dot turned off.
