When it comes to your Apple Watch, there are loads of apps available for you to install. Indeed, if you install an app on your iPhone and it has a Watch companion app, it will install for you by default. Most of the time, that’s a good thing as you have the ability to access the apps directly from your watch and not have to pick up your iPhone or fish it out of your pocket.
Sometimes, however, you need the storage space on your Apple Watch or there are apps that are installed that you simply don’t want or need on your watch. After all, do you really need the Dominos Pizza app on your watch when you place your orders from your iPhone 100% of the time? In my case, no (sorry Dominos). Fortunately, uninstalling apps – and reinstall them – on your Watch is a pretty easy process.
First, as with many things on your Apple Watch, this How To is driven from the Watch app on your iPhone. Make sure that your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone before you begin (you can check this by going to the Bluetooth settings on your iPhone in Settings). Open up the Watch app and make sure you are on the My Watch tab (this is the default tab). Now scroll down until you get to the section, “Installed on Apple Watch”. This will be about 1/2 day the page and there you will see all of the apps that you have installed on your Watch beyond the ones that come pre-loaded on it from Apple.
Find the app you want to uninstall in the list and tap it. This will bring you to the app’s information section and the first thing you will see is a toggle switch for “Show App on Apple Watch”. Slide that toggle off and it will no longer show up on your Watch. That is to say, it is uninstalled from it.
It will take a few seconds for the app to be uninstalled on your Watch and you will know that it has been uninstalled when it shows up in the “Available Apps” list on the My Watch tab in the app. That’s all there is to it.
If you decide that you want to reinstall the app to your Watch, no problem. On that Available Apps list, find the app you want to install on the list, tap the Install button and it will be re-added to your watch.
