iWork Apps for iOS and MacOS Get Big Updates to Support New Features

Apple has rolled out a new update to the iWork suite of apps for both iOS and MacOS.  The updates to Apple Keynote, Apple Numbers, and Apple Pages bring several new features to the apps and some specific enhancements for iOS 12 and MacOS Mojave.

The big news on the iWork apps for iOS is, as you would expect, support for Siri Shortcuts in iOS 12.  Over the past 24 hours, loads of apps have been updated to support the new feature, which allows you to automate tasks and interact with apps using Siri.

There are other features and fixes in the updates to the three apps other than Siri Shortcuts support.

Pages

    • Animate your drawings and watch them come to life in a document or book.
    • When using Smart Annotation, lines connecting text to annotations in the side margins stretch and move with edits.
    • Annotations now anchor to table cells.
    • Easily save drawings to Photos or Files, or share them with others.
    • Support for Siri Shortcuts. Requires iOS 12.
    • Adjust the line spacing before and after a paragraph, and set the width for columns of text.
    • Pages now supports Dynamic Type.
    • Enhance your documents with a variety of new editable shapes.

Numbers

    • Use Smart Categories to quickly organize and summarize tables to gain new insights.
    • Group your data based on unique values and date ranges, including day of week, day, week, month, quarter, and year.
    • Instantly show count, subtotal, average, maximum, and minimum values for columns in each group.
    • Create charts of your summarized data.
    • Easily reorder categories to see your data in a different way.
    • Easily save drawings to Photos or Files, or share them with others.
    • Support for Siri Shortcuts. Requires iOS 12.
    • Numbers now supports Dynamic Type.
    • Enhance your spreadsheets with a variety of new editable shapes.

Keynote

    • Adjust text size in presenter notes and invert colors while presenting.
    • Easily save drawings to Photos or Files, or share them with others.
    • Support for Siri Shortcuts. Requires iOS 12.
    • Keynote now supports Dynamic Type.
    • Enhance your presentations with a variety of new editable shapes.
  • Performance and stability improvements.

In addition to the iWork app updates for iOS, they were also updated for MacOS.  The update for all three of the apps for Macs brings support for Dark Mode, a feature that will be coming with MacOS Mojave, as well as Continuity Camera.  They also include a number of performance updates and fixes.

If you have the apps installed on your iPhone, iPad or the MacOS versions on your MacBook, you should have the updates ready to install if they did not auto install.
