A friendly reminder to all readers on the Apple Battery Replacement Program. If you have an eligible iPhone model and your battery needs to be replaced, do it before December 31, 2018. That is the last day of the discounted program after Batterygate that you can get the replacement for $29.
Starting January 1, 2019, the prices will go back up to $49 for most models with the exception of the iPhone X. That will be a $69 battery replacement.
These are the eligible phones for the Battery Replacement Program
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6 Plus
- iPhone 6s
- iPhone 6s Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
If you have one of these models, you can check your battery health by going to Settings>Battery>Battery Health. If your battery capacity has fallen below 80% and your performance has been degraded, you can apply to get your battery replaced at the discounted price.

After “Batterygate”, when it was learned that Apple was throttling devices with older batteries that were under performing, the company introduced a new Battery Health feature. That feature will give you a percentage of your battery health and if it falls under 80% of full capacity, it is recommended that the battery be replaced.
