Good news this morning for those who have been waiting for the Logitech Crayon to reach beyond the education sector. The low cost stylus will be available to everyone starting September 12 at your local Apple Store or online. It will cost $70, a bit more than the $50 price point for the education sector, but is less expensive than the $99 Apple Pencil.
The Logitech Crayon was announced way back in March as an alternative to the Apple Pencil and it was aimed at the education sector. It features a lot of the same functionality as Apple’s product including the palm and tilt-aware technology. The biggest difference is that it doesn’t have pressure sensitivity which will be a drawback for digital artists.
If, however, you are doing simple drawings or using the Crayon for notes and other written content, it is a great alternative. It has a 8 hour battery life so it should get you through the day and it recharges via a female Lightning connector at the top of the stylus.
As for compatibility, it remains the same as the Apple Pencil. It will work on the iPad Pro lineup, both the 12.9″ and 10.5″ models as well as the 9.7″ sixth generation iPad introduced this year.
