Good news for those of you who use Uber Eats. You now have the option to pay with Apple Pay within the App. The update began rolling out yesterday via an app update in the App Store. When you update Uber Eats on your iPhone, you will now have the option to add Apple Pay as a payment option under your account.
When you go through the order process in Uber Eats and are ready to pay, if you have set Apple Pay as your default payment option, you will see it at the bottom of the order sheet. Double-tap the power button to pay (or the Home button for Touch ID devices), it will process like a normal Apple Pay order.
The addition of this payment option makes sense for Eats and isn’t a big surprise. The main ride-sharing Uber app has accepted Apple Pay since 2014. For its part, Uber Eats has accepted other payment services like Venmo and PayPal.
The ability to use Apple Pay in Uber Eats will be slowing rolling out globally over the next few weeks. In addition to the United States, you can expect to see it in the United Kingdom, Canada, Belgium, France, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Netherlands, and the United Arab Emirates. Eventually.
The app itself is free and you can download here from the App Store. You can use the same Uber account you have setup for the ride-sharing app.
